The house was over 200 years old and just looked like it. We didn’t fall in love with it immediately, but we were delighted by the details of the sandstone portals and columns, the larch ceilings, and the fragments of half-timbered timber sticking out here and there from under the plaster. Then there was a big renovation, the first since the war, during which we had to learn everything ourselves – clay, wood and stone.. We made sure that the materials used to save the house were as close as possible to those from over two centuries ago. The wood for repairs and reconstruction comes from the demolition of our home’s peers, who were not as lucky as he was. The sandstone is from the surrounding quarries. However, a special clay mixture for the half-timbered wheel came from Germany.
We live in Kondratów in the heart of the Chełmy Landscape Park in the Kaczawskie Foothills. It is also a protected area under the Natura 2000 programme. In spring, a pair of cranes, roe deer and red deer have been coming to our meadow for years, a normal sight. In the surrounding gorges you can observe salamanders and, of course, a specialty of our area – mouflons.
Our region is also the Land of Extinct Volcanoes. The nearest one is outside the window, a little further on there are the more famous ones – Czartowska Skała, Organy Wielisławskie and Ostrzyca.
The Sudetes are also a treasure trove of monuments. Palaces and castles, Romanesque churches and Baroque monasteries. And of course, war secrets, the golden train in every other village and the lost “Portrait of a Young Man” by Raphael in every third:)

So we invite you to the Rupaki guesthouse. This is not an anonymous hotel with a reception where you can return in the morning and no one is bothered by it. It’s just a few rooms, intimate and homely. And guests are asked to respect the homely atmosphere.
